NBO supports youth leadership training programme for women Posted: 27 Jun 2013 01:38 AM PDT MUSCAT - In line with its commitment to youth development, National Bank of Oman (NBO) recently supported a 'Youth Leadership Training Programme' for Omani women. The programme was organised by the Art of Living (AoL) Foundation in partnership with the Ministry of Sports Affairs in Nizwa. This programme is designed to train young female Omani coaches in yoga. Last year, the bank supported the programme to training male Omani coaches. The Youth Leadership Training Programme is the first of its kind in the sultanate and has so far trained a big number of Omani sport coaches in yoga. A participant in the programme, who turned coach said: "One of the most important things I learned from this course is simply how to breathe. Yoga is not merely a sport or a game, but a lifestyle that is designed to improve the quality of our lives. The knowledge we gain from this course will be of no use if we do not put it to practice. Before we start spreading what we learnt about yoga, we should first believe in it ourselves, so others will believe in it too". The intensive programme includes the use of basic yoga, stress-eliminating breathing techniques and deep relaxation to help the young coaches realize their inner potential and ability to live a happy, fulfilling and meaningful life. Kamal Khimji, who spearheaded the programme, said, "The Youth Leadership Training Program is much needed in Oman. The breathing techniques, exercises and relaxation techniques learnt in this program opened up their hidden talents and brought about confidence and team building abilities. There was an improvement in the health of the women and they experienced higher levels of energy.." Tarek Sakik, NBO's head of corporate communications and CSR, said, "We at NBO are committed to Youth Development. The skills gained during the programme will enable these ladies to not only be more productive, but to also be more confident in their work and personal lives. As this programme is a 'Train the Trainer' scheme, the ladies will be able to pass the skills acquired on to others." Source: Muscat daily Note: Unable to see the above images?
