Search and add events to Calendar – win 8 app

This windows 8 application searches event based on keyword, category, date and location from eventful.com. It allows user to add selected events to their default calendar app like MS-Outlook, Hotmail calendar or any in other win 8 calendar app .

Following are additional features.

  1. The events selected in results can be viewed using calendar view or in page view. 8 Events are displayed for each page.
  2. In calendar view, event dates are highlighted with green in background. Once it is clicked then corresponding event details will be displayed in event detail column.
  3. Next page and Previous page buttons are used to navigate through pages.
  4. In Calendar view, if user selects,
    1. “>” then it displays next month events
    2. “<” then it displays previous month events
    3. “>>” then it displays next year events
    4. “<<” then it displays previous year events
  5. The displayed calendar events can be added and launched using default calendar app in users PC.
  6. This application requires internet connection.

Job Search windows 8 app

  1. This application search jobs from various websites like indeed.com, simplyhired.co.in, careerbuilder.com.
  2. It searches based on keyword, location provided by user. If it matches, it displays results with each page containing 10 results.
  3. It allows user to navigate to next page, previous page until end of results.
  4. It allows users to filter the results by relevance or job posted date in descending order.
  5. It also allows users to search different job sites by selecting the job website from “Find in” drop down box.
  6. User can apply for the job using “apply for job” button in job details pages. When “Apply for job button” is clicked , it will take user to corresponding job website to apply for the job by launching Internet explorer app in windows 8.
  7. If there is no matching results, it displays error message “No results found”.

This windows 8 application calculates Gratuity and Provident fund for employees working in India.

Gratuity is calculated is based on basic pay and DA using below formula.

Gratuity Calculation In India = [ (Basic Pay + D.A) x 15 days x No. of years of service ] / 26

Employees who are working for more than 5 years in same company are eligible to receive Gratuity amount.The gratuity received under the Act is tax-free to the extent that it does not exceed 15 days' salary for every completed year of service. This is subject to a maximum of Rs 3.5 lakh. This tax-free ceiling applies to the aggregate of gratuity received from one or more employers in the same year or during different years.

Employee provident fund (PF) is calculated based on employee basic pay, percentage of employee contribution to PF account per month, percentage of employer contribution to PF account per month, number of years to retire, previous company PF balance and interest rate of 8.5% per annum is used to calculate total PF at the time of retirement stage.If the employee joins the employer with a basic salary of more than 6500 and the employee was a member of EPF with a previous employer, the current company must support and continue with the previous EPF
