Social issues taken up at youth summit Posted: 21 Jul 2013 08:00 PM PDT CHANDIGARH: Social issues such as bridging the gender gap, drugs and alcohol, myths and facts about corruption and safety of women, among others were taken up at the event organized under the aegis of Volunteer for a Better India (VBI), an initiative of the Art of Living. More than 1,500 people, from Amritsar, Ambala, Kaithal, Hisar, Mandi Gobindgarh, Ropar, Mohali, Delhi, Noida besides Chandigarh and Mohali were present at the youth summit, which was held at the gymnasium hall of Panjab University. Guests included Panjab University vice-chancellor Arun Kumar Grover, who was the chief guest, Punjab health minister Madan Mohan Mittal and CEO of Gurukul Vidya Peeth Manmohan Garg. The event was telecast live in 53 countries through the Art of Living website. Art of Living founder Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, in his recorded message for residents of Punjab, said, 'Punjab has been a very strong state and I am very happy that I am taking a step together with Punjab to make our country better. Punjab has land which is very prosperous and fertile. The same spirit should spill over to the rest of the country.' Note: Unable to see the above images?
