International Association for Human Values (IAHV), under the initiative of Mr. Werner Luedemann, has participated in the World Health Orgnazition (WHO) conference on mental health on 7th October 2013 in Geneva, Switzerland.

From 2013 to 2020, United Nations are planning a special focus on mental health through the WHO Mental Health Gap Action Programme (mhGAP).

IAHV was present to this conference to connect with key international players in the field of mental health: NGOs as well as governments. Delegates attending the conference were approached by IAHV's team to inform them about IAHV's work and achievements regarding mental health.

From WHO website:
"Mental, neurological, and substance use disorders are common in all regions of the world, affecting every community and age group across all income countries. While 14% of the global burden of disease is attributed to these disorders, most of the people affected - 75% in many low-income countries - do not have access to the treatment they need.

The mhGAP aims at scaling up services for mental, neurological and substance use disorders for countries especially with low- and middle-income. The programme asserts that with proper care, psychosocial assistance and medication, tens of millions could be treated for depression, schizophrenia, and epilepsy, prevented from suicide and begin to lead normal lives– even where resources are scarce."
