Don't change your religion: H.H. Sri Sri Ravi Shankar Posted: 01 Mar 2013 11:39 PM PST DHARAN: Founder of the Art of Living Sri Sri Ravi Shankar today spoke out against the rising trend of changing one's religion to adopt another. Speaking at a press meet in Dharan today, the Indian spiritual leader was highly critical of such a trend and called it 'fascination' among some about other religions that made them change their own religion they have been following for thousands of years. He also criticised those who misinterpret Hindu religion as only of priests and Brahmins. "Hindu religion is not a private affair of anyone. It has been followed by many since thousands of years," he said, adding, "It is not good for anyone to change one's religion they have been following since ages. Nepali brothers and sisters should follow the religion that they have been following since ages." Sri Sri Ravi Shankar also announced establishment of 50 schools to educate people in the hilly and remote areas of the country. He also promised distribution of solar lights to 1,000 houses in remote districts. Earlier, addressing thousands of people at the Public Higher Secondary School ground in Dharan, he said, "Nepal can be made Switzerland of Asia as it is in the lap of the world's highest peak, Everest. It is also a mine of Ayurvedic medicines. Political parties need to give up their selfishness to make it the Switzerland of Asia." Locals of Dharan welcomed the spiritual guru with flowers and garlands and made him don the Nepali cap and Daura-suruwal. He requested the audience to wear Nepali cap to preserve their identity.
